Although the focus of this blog is not about media, I do want to share my experience with you. So you maybe wondering what on earth am I actually on about when I say ‘Media’. Well the answer is, I surround my career around media, journalism and broadcasting. I do this both through paid work as well as through volunteering with a variety of different brands and companies. I will however focus on the more relevant in this post.
For the past 2 years I have been volunteering at the Meridian Regional in Madrid with Crossfit Media Team. It is such an amazing opportunity to be able to work alongside the biggest names in the industry and have an active role in which I partake during the whole weekend. I work closely with the broadcast crew, focusing on the live streaming and cooperation between what is happening live and on the competition floor. The main attribute of this role is the fact that it gave me a chance to begin to pursue my future career and gain hands on experience in media and broadcasting, also gaining necessary and valuable hints for the future. Through working with the Media team at Regionals, it created a shortcut bridge for me to begin gaining further experience but, this time it was at the Reebok Crossfit Games. My role was working with the commentators and reporters, helping to gain valuable information and making myself useful by helping them through aspects of the competition day. Like I previously mentioned, journalism is something I am currently working towards at University, and this roles that I undertook during Regionals and Games will help me greatly in my career.
Additionally to volunteering at the Regionals and Games, I am active on Social Media platforms, with my main one being Instagram. I began using this platform around 3 years ago when I was just starting out in fitness and saw it as a nice tool to showcase my achievements in Athletics. However, as time went by, I was gaining more and more followers which was quite unintentional. Looking at it now, I love where it is getting me and I have grown to love sharing my passion with others around me and motivating each and every follower into pursing their dreams, whether that is in fitness or just in general a healthy lifestyle. If you aren’t already, then check out my profile yourself (@crossfit_maggie), this will give you a clearer view of what I am talking about. Of course if you like the content then click the blue follow button at the top of my page. I hope to keep inspiring everyone with my fitness posts and share my passion for weights further; who knows, maybe I will inspire you?
On top of that, I manage my gyms Social Media accounts to help in advertising their services and showing how fun and enjoyable sport and fitness can be. If you aren’t already following @Crossfit_Wolverhampton then do the same thing as with my account and click the blue follow button at the top of the page. This will give you a wider angle of what I do and the rest of the members on a daily basis and give a greater insight into the amazing sport of Crossfit and our friendly community.
Having the opportunity to be so active in media has allowed me to expand my knowledge in the technological field. And by this I mean that it has given me the opportunity to learn how to use a variety of different softwares to create content that is fit for advertising myself and other brands. Video editing is a powerful tool which I use efficiently to demonstrate what I do on a daily basis during training, as well as using it to create content for brands and companies. This knowledge and skills help me greatly when it comes to journalism and broadcasting as they are a necessity for anyone working in these fields.
I know this may be quite a lengthy post to read, but I hope it does not bore you too much. If you have any questions or fancy collaborating then send me an email to email@example.com and I will respond as soon as possible.
